Pathanamthitta, a district in the southern part of Kerala, India.
The district headquarters is in the town of Pathanamthitta. Thiruvalla city is
the largest commercial centre in the district. The neighboring districts of
Pathanamthitta are Kottayam, Idukki, Alappuzha and Kollam. It
has border with the state of Tamilnadu in the east. Sabarimala, one of the most
famous Pilgrimages Centre in India is located in Pathanamthitta district. This
is one of the less densely populated districts in Kerala.
